2009 Awards

IEM is proud to have our clients’ sustainability efforts nationally recognized by leading environmental organizations:
	California WRAP Award For the 2nd year running, IEM clients were recognized by the California Integrated Waste Management Board for their outstanding efforts to reduce landfill-bound waste. During 2008, a total of 63,688 tons of waste was produced across 50 California retail centers. With IEM's sustainability program in place, 16,129 of the total 63,688 tons were diverted away from landfills and into recycling centers.
	Pennsylvania Waste Watcher Award The Waste Watcher awards are given to recycling, waste reduction, reuse and composting programs in Pennsylvania that have exhibited exemplary performance. In 2009, IEM and 32 client centers were honored for their outstanding achievements in diverting over 30% of waste away from Pennsylvania landfills.
	Virginia Recycling Association The Virginia Recycling Association (VRA) recognizes the best programs in waste reduction, recycling and litter control through their VRA Awards program. Seven IEM managed retail properties were acknowledged for their exceptional recycling efforts in 2008 by achieving an impressive 33% waste diversion rate.
