Environmental stewardship is a core value at IEM. It is our ongoing mission to implement high-impact, waste diversion programs that ensure our actions today will secure a stable and healthy environment tomorrow. IEM’s approach to managing the waste stream is based on a simple set of priorities – reduce waste where possible; reuse, recover and recycle it; then as a last resort, dispose of it safely.
In 2009, IEM significantly reduced our clients’ environmental footprint and made considerable progress in identifying new, more efficient ways to reduce retail and commercial property waste both onsite and within the communities in which we operate.
- In 2009, IEM clients diverted enough paper and cardboard to save 1.5 million trees.
- IEM became the first company to implement a composting program in a retail center food court. Currently, we are managing 5 composting programs across the U.S.
- In 2009, IEM clients were granted awards in Virginia, Pennsylvania and California for showing outstanding environmental commitment and achievements. In 2010, client award nominations will be submitted in 47 states.
